The Town of Waterboro I.T. Manager provides virtually 24/7 onsite and/or on-call technical support to Waterboro Town Hall, Fire Department, Transfer & Recycling Center, and the Public Library. The I.T. Manager is responsible for maintenance, upgrade, troubleshooting, and repair of Town-owned network equipment such as servers, computers, and printers, as well as various audio and video components associated with the Cable Television broadcasts.

The I.T. Manager is also responsible for design and maintenance of the Town website, and works closely with all Town departments, employees, boards, and committees to ensure that residents are provided with timely, accurate and complete information via the Town's website and the Government Cable Television Channel.

Improving communication through technology is a primary goal of the department.

The I.T. Manager is the designated point-of-contact for general software and technical equipment vendors, as well as state and municipal software support providers. All computer and network technology requests are now channeled through the I.T. Department for research and analysis. The I.T. model combining technological expertise and "single-point" technology budgeting allows for the best use designated funds.

Long-term projects and goals of the I.T. Department to benefit the Town of Waterboro include promoting the Town's businesses and attractions, as well as the gathering, restoration, and archiving of documents and photos pertaining to the Town's history. This includes digital archiving of Town government documents. The I.T. Department will be working closely with the Waterboro Historical Society to digitally archive historical photos and other information to be made available to the general public via the Town website. Much of this data pre-dates the 1947 Fire which destroyed large portions of the Town's lands and buildings, and provides a rare glimpse into the Town's past.

Preserving history for future generations is just one function of a modern I.T. Department.

Planned for late 2010! Look for expanded public access via Town Hall lobby kiosks. These self-service kiosks will allow residents to renew certain vehicles and print a temporary registration, or to pay property taxes without waiting in line, among other things. Note: any function available on the Town website will be available via the lobby kiosks.
